Dear Leaders of Non-PAP Political Parties

As a Singaporean, I feel very strongly that the arrogant, greedy and callous attitude of PAP is doing much harm to Singapore. Their $$$ first policies (raise GDP at all cost and crazy import of foreign workers) which is literally suffocating Singaporeans leave much to be desired. The games they play with the shifting of goalposts in the many things they control (Electioneering, CPF, HDB, PA, GIC, Temasek, Town Councils, etc.) and their lack of transparency will hurt our children and grandchildren more than they hurt us. Hence, we need more opposition members in Parliament to right their wrongs. Or at least, highlight them as in AIMgate.

天 有 眼
God has eyes!
Surprisingly, karma does happen in one's lifetime - no need to wait for the next life. As recently demonstrated by Palmergate, the power of the universe teaches us not to demand of others to come clean when our own come isn't clean! For that, many Singaporeans are grateful in learning to be gracious with sincerity; not with political correctness (wayang).

Singaporeans have eyes too!
If not for the gloating of their high score in town council management and putting WP in a bad light, AIMgate would not have seen the light of day! It is because AHTC is not in the grip of PAP that we know of such depravity!

Though "AIM was not raised as an issue by any of the external auditors who audited the FY2010 accounts of these TCs",  PM Lee said, "In the interest of transparency and maintaining trust in the system, I have asked the Ministry of National Development (MND) to review this transaction fully, and satisfy itself that public funds were safeguarded and residents' interests were not compromised." I guess, cum clean, PAP must!

Just how a subordinate (Mr Tay Kim Poh, Deputy Secretary of MND) can report on the shortcumings of his bosses' ministry and political party to his boss is beyond me. [Link]

How, ah?

~~~~~~~~o0o~~~~~~~~
Dear non-PAP political leaders and independents who wish to contest in Punggol East,
The Presidential Election has taught us that a 3-cornered (or multi-cornered) fight in Punggol East will only serve PAP best!
I was hoping that WP and SDP and the other parties would work together to come up with only one candidate to take on PAP.
Please do not let this opportunity to have another opposition member in parliament go to waste. Singaporeans who are sick and tired of the shenanigans of PAP are looking forward to the day when we can see the light (transparency) of our CPF, sovereign wealth funds and other stuff that rightly belong to us!
2011 did not see much of 3-cornered fights in the General Election which you good folks did well together to garner 40% of the votes but got less than 10% of the parliamentary seats. It is such a weird and atrocious system that citizens of Singapore wish to see changed and change we must!
And a note to Chee Soon Juan
Due to the demonization by mainstream media, I had a pretty bad impression of you. It was in 2006 when I heard you spoke in Forum in NUS that changed my mind. I thought you did great and you made much sense in your book "Democratically Speaking?" [Link]
However, your latest press conference and proposal of WP ceding to SDP to challenge PAP to avoid a multi-cornered fight is a little too rich to accept, It scares me that the feedback I have from concerned friends who loves to see more opposition in parliament goes like this:
  1. My husband thinks Csj is delusional in this instance. I tend 2 agree.
  2. I think he is losing the plot...
  3. Is this the price to pay for being discharged as bankrupt....Mole for PAP?
  4. Is he having bi-polar disorder like Ravi?
I feel sad for you when I hear comments (above) from my friends.
To me, you have done much in getting Dr Paul Tambyah, Dr Ang Yong Guan and Dr Vincent Wijeysingha and other credible members to join your team. Your book "Democratically Speaking" did much to enhance your reputation. Please do not throw all that away.
Please continue working with your alternative system on housing, health care and other programs that can put PAP to shame. We truly appreciate you and your team's effort.
May you continue to walk the ground in Bukit Timah and Ghim Moh and fight in the Main Event in 2016! With patience, truth, hard work and humility,  glory shall come!
~~~~~~~~o0o~~~~~~~~

To all who aspire to be MP in Punggol East, I hope good sense will prevail on Nomination Day!

CSJ - advice to you is don't rush -your time is not ripe yet. You are still young. Be patient and cultivate the support that is growing for you. Don't do anything that appears foolish because of your impatience.

Many people are treating the coming by-election as a life and death situation when this will have a relatively insignificant impact on the citizenry as a whole, compared to the General and Presidential elections. With the overwhelming presence of PAP MPs in the parliament, one more or less opposition MP does not make much differece if he or she is going to be as timid as the incumbent members. What we need now is a more confident and sharper person to confront the government for its policies and actions which disadvantage the citizens. I mean 'confront' in the sense of getting a more detailed examination and explanation of issues affecting all voters.

I therefore support the entry of more than one political party to present their views and offer alternative solutions to improve the livelihood and comfort of the people. Come 2016, electorates will have a better idea of the abilities or otherwise of these alternative parties and their candidates. Let's not miss the wood for the trees and look forward to a more equitable representation in the next parliament.

This is my two cents worth, please feel free to disagree.

Mr FMTTF
Like you, CSJ and SDP was fast gaining credibility in my eyes.
I kept an open mind right till this morning, when I read SDP's proposal to WP.

I think it's no use talking to CSJ or the SDP.
They created the problem.
Let them fix it.

WP is correct in maintaining a dignified silence.
And continue to focus on serving their constituents who bravely voted for WP.

Unfortunately, Singapore is not a western democracy.
PAP has structured the electoral game in such a way that you not only need to win an election on your policies;
You also have to have the organizational capability be able to run a township's amenities immediately after winning the elections.

God only knows how many Town Council suppliers have contracts that allow them to terminate supplies with one month's notice ... if PAP loses the elections.

The MSM is already starting it's propaganda campaign using Chee's theatrics to convey to Singaporeans that the opposition is in total disagreement among themselves, even though the WP has not spoken a word about Chee's advances.

It is a bad judgement on Chee's part to reveal his intention to the MSM, and the non response from WP is taken by many to be a slap on his face.

Does he not know, after all these years, that the MSM is always out to discredit the opposition by highlighting their unflattering news while selectively keeping out the more palatable news about them? Low Thia Khiang, over the years, played his cards close to his chest because he knew what the PAP controlled MSM is up to.

I suggest that CJS should do some damage control to his reputation before it becomes fodder for the msm.A quick decisive withdrawal of his proposal will do much good.

Maybe, all along this is the real CSJ.

After all, he can't even walk to market without creating a big splash every time.

He has this capacity to .. self-destruct. The biggest question is not about CSJ -- its what does SDP want to do with CSJ, if SDP wants to be a serious contendor (in the West, apparently). Or is CSJ SDP and SDP CSJ?? Then don't blame PAP for making PAP Singapore and Singapore PAP, right? If we preach that Singapore is bigger than PAP, then is SDP bigger than CSJ? Just asking .. you know, before you can fix the country's problems, you may need to fix some internal house problems first.

CSJ, please totally give up the idea of SDP standing for this BE. Despite the fact that the WP is commonly known as PAP's B-team, I still do not wish to see the ruling party coming victorious on 26 Jan.

"What we need now is a more confident and sharper person to confront the government for its policies and actions which disadvantage the citizens. I mean 'confront' in the sense of getting a more detailed examination and explanation of issues affecting all voters."

Give Low Thia Khng some credit.
1. He maintained and strengthened his Hougang stronghold for many years.
2. He attracted talented and credible people to join him.
3. He defeated a PAP GRC team.

If LTK chooses to maintain a dignified silence.
He must have his reasons.
At least give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I too would like to see WP be more vocal in parliament.
But the brainwashed 60% may not be so comfortable.
And you need the support of the brainwashed 60% to get elected.

You may be a great debater in parliament.
But can you also manage the day-to-day operational issues in a town council?
If you can't, you will not get re-elected.
That's how the game is structured in Singapore.

At January 13, 2013 at 11:13 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I also agree that WP and Mr Low did the right thing by keeping silent on the proposal. No use fighting in public as it will make the opposition look even more dis-united. CSJ should now realise his folly, and withdraw from the contest (not now, preferably on Nomination day)

/// What we need now is a more confident and sharper person to confront the government for its policies and actions which disadvantage the citizens. ///

Key Question is;
------------------

What's the point of asking WP to debate PAP in parliament?
Do you think the deaf frogs will listen?

PAP does not listen to WP in parliament.
But PAP invited WP to join the National Conversation.
In developed countries, the parliament is THE place where their National Conversation takes place.

So how serious is the PAP in a National Conversation?

No wonder WP respectfully declined PAP's invitation to participate in the National Conversation.

January 14, 2013 8:40 AM - I agree. PAP is incapable of listen. Even if they hear, they cannot perceive. Their eyes are covered by $$. The only way for them to wake up is for voters to stop voting for them.

PAP's Yale-NUS, creeping LGBT foothold and SDP's joint Punggol East campaign proposal.......Reform Party.........................Yale.

Chee Soon Juan, was invited to speak at the Oslo Freedom Forum in Norway on 8 May 2012, he was denied permission to leave Singapore to attend.Soon after, Chee Soon Juan offered to pay S$30,000 to discharge himself from bankruptcy sometime around September 11, 2011.

The main reason LKY and GCT was kind enough to accepted Chee Soon
Juan's offer to pay S$30,000 to discharge himself from bankruptcy could well be a behind the scene horse trading deal with Yale was struck to prevent the PAP's Yale-NUS collaboration with Yale from derailing and a face saving way out to rationalize an extremely embarrassing and almost untenable collaboration, especially for Yale, of course, this makes whitewash and shameless.
Thereafter, Chee Soon Juan and Kenneth Jeyaretnam flew many thousands of miles to New Haven to speak at the invitation Yale on the November 30, 2012. Kenneth Jeyaretnam was never sued bankrupt, only Chee Soon Juan did, he was not even invited to the Oslo Freedom Forum. How did Kenneth Jeyaretnam managed the clout to get to speak at Yale. Most probably from someone within Yale and even within PAP's Yale-NUS, certainly from Chee Soon Juan.
During GE 2011, Kenneth Jeyaretnam's Reform Party contested the Ang Mo Kio GRC against PM Lee's GRC team . PM Lee won with a mandate of 69.3 percent. If the Workers Party were the contender,PM Lee's vote count would not look pretty.
Kenneth Jeyaretnam said, "We are the first new party set up in over 20 years, and this was our first election. It was the Reform Party's first election and Kenneth Jeyaretnam sent his team to contest PM Lee's Ang Mo Kio GRC team knowing it was a sure defeat?. As far as I know, there wasn't much
banners or posters put up by the Reform Party if any, I think there wasn't even any loud hailer to announce their candidacy, what a farce.
Kenneth Jeyaretnam is a PAP mole I can assure you, look at what he is
doing in Punggol east now along with Chee Soon Juan's SDP. They are going to split the votes helping the PAP along the way.
Lastly, I'm afraid that there are some pressure groups from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community(LGBT) to content with, that are jostling
to exert influence to shape society and national policies in the name of civil rights that is actively promoting a perverted lifestyle. Even the PAP is encouraging and promoting the LGBT community.
End.

"Monday 25 April, Dr Balakrishnan and his GRC team issued a statement on the matter.
The PAP statement, which was undersigned by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and candidates Liang Eng Hwa, Christopher de Souza and Sim Ann, reads as follows:

“A video has been posted on the internet showing Vincent Wijeysingha participating at a forum which discussed the promotion of the gay cause in Singapore.
“The discussion at the forum also touched on sex with boys and whether the age of consent for boys should be 14 years of age.

“In the video, Wijeysingha was introduced as being from the SDP.
“In addition to other comments, Wijeysingha stated: ‘I think the gay community has to rally ourselves. Perhaps one outcome of today’s forum would be, for those of us who are interested, to come together to further consider how we can address the 377 issue as well as further rights issues in relation to gays and lesbians.’
“We believe that candidates should be upfront about their political agenda and motives, so that voters are able to make an informed choice." unquote.
