No more election in Singapore!

I think if they could they would.

With their almighty power in parliament, they can change the law as and when they like. They can do anything they fancy. Examples:

CPF:
Our money (in lump sum cash) which was due to us when we reached 55 has gone to the dogs. Through the years, they have tweaked it so that we end up with Medisave, Special Accounts, Retirement Account and now the Annuity Account. Get yours at 55! Get yours at 62! Get yours at 70! Get yours at 83! No, not in one lump sum but in monthly installments! Get yours when you die! All of which serve only one purpose - for them to hold on to your money for as long as they like! While they are at it, they up yours by telling you that you are too daft to manage your money!

HDB:
It was supposed to be affordable housing, especially for the poor. Now it is an investment! They scheme, they tweak, they change the rules according to their whims and fancies without any concern for the welfare of the home buyers (99-year tenants). With all their so-called care and concern for Singaporeans' housing needs, why are we still so unhappy and disappointed with their performance (including the latest wayang)?

Security of PAP:
A gathering of more than 4 persons was considered an illeegal assembly. Now they have the "Move On" law where anyone, just one person, is considered illegal assembly if they don't like what you do, what you show and what you say. Cycling in group organised by WP is dangerous but cycling organised by PAP (through kindergartens) with PM as VVIP is safe as hell!

The above are some of the 'suka suka' can change laws and policies implemented for the better of Singapore and Singaporeans.

Will it surprise anyone if law is changed so that there is no longer a requirement for election (within 5 years) if the ground ain't sweet enough for the ruling party? With their audacity, their desperation to stay in power at all cost (eg. Election Dept under PM's Office, gerrymandeering, no upgrading for opposition wards) and disrespect for the men in the street (daft, lesser mortals like dogs urinating in lifts), it may just happen.

Maybe not. Maybe they are confident that pro-PAP votes from new citizens (Heaven knows how many Chinese and Indians were granted citizenship during the last 5 years) are more than enough to replace the votes of disgruntled Singaporeans who have enough of the crap from the despots whose greed for money and power knows no end.

Their million dollar solution to flood and Mas Selamat jalan leaves much to be desired. However, "PAP-eye-refuse-to-see" OVERCROWDING PROBLEM (getting on the nerves of everyone) is something they had better work on before frustrations lead to mayhem and disaster!

It's a crazy thought but
  • if Mr Chia Thye Poh could be locked up for 32 years without trial
  • if Dr Lim Hock Siew was denied freedom because he refused to save the face of the then Prime Minister,
  • if Operation Cold Store and
  • Marxist's Conspiracy could happen in Singapore
then I think changing the law on election to ensure ruling party rules forever is sub-sub-sway (no big deal) !

Of course, internationally, it'll be another chewing gum joke!

The possibility of Singapore becoming another Nyanmar cannot be ruled out.

Fish,
the old despot and his PAP have been fixing the election system to their advantage for so long they can write a manual on it....

the numerous walkovers through GRCs, gerrymandering, character assassination of political opponents using the MSM, law suits to bankrupt star players from opposition parties, vote buying through coercion and intimidation, dishing out election promises they have no intention to keep, declaring date of election at very short notice, using MSM to give themselves more coverage, etc.
in short, one can sum it up as tactics used by scums.

to me, the outcome of this GE will be the most significant of all.
enough is enough!

If it goes electronic, we can kiss the election goodbye.

Next election result will most likely still to PAP's favour because there will be 1 million plus newly copted citizens vote for PAP. The MIW has done their calculation before they announce the election date.

At the most, one or two more elections and we can kiss goodbye to using our votes to change things.

Looking at the way the old man is talking now and you know there is much they will start doing once this coming election is over, and when we still continue giving them a good majority.

Singaporeans are doomed to peasantry without their realising it, because all they see is the surface of progress, without seeing the undercurrents of impoverishment coming their way. Yes, pay and pay while you can, but for how long?

The people of the USA are resigned to not seeing their previous jobs coming back, because technology has made humans obsolete, while jobs outsourced (also much to do with technology) will never return to their country. The most shocking admission is that some Americans are going back to basics, that is small scale farming to survive. How did the USA come to this stage? Hard to believe.

Our time will come, no matter how much we upgrade our skills. Technology is the killer of jobs in every country. Even China will have its day of reckoning.

That is the reality of the situation.

Anyone has any suspicion why the PAP Govt are so close to the Burmese generals, the North Korean Govt, or the CCP of China. Birds of the same feather flock together.
Absolute control, but with Singapore under the guise of Democracy, pseudo one.

SM Goh asks Singaporeans to view problems in perspective
"Channel NewsAsia - 2010-09-04T20:47:01
SINGAPORE : Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong has asked Singaporeans to view problems such as overcrowding in trains and increasing property prices in perspective, and remember those who are less fortunate.Mr Goh was speaking to reporters on the sideline..."

Me copied(cut) the above from xinmsn. In there SM Goh Chok Tong was telling Singaporeans to remember(be mindful would have been more appropriate) those who are less fortunate.

This reminder from a ex prime minister who promised Singaporeans 'swiss standard of livings' during his reign and now a senior minister. This chap got the cheek now to implore Singaporeans to be mindful of poorer or lesser Singaporeans that he and he fellow cabinet members had repeatedly promised 'swiss standard of livings' for Singaporeans for decades.

If SM Goh has any conscience left in him, me suggest that he donate all his remunerations that he received as a ruler to all the less fortunate Singaporeans he mentioned.

Shedding crocodile's tears is likely to invite cynicism, some will even find it despicable.

No more is the talk by the father, son and the holy ghost going to convince Singaporeans.

They are preaching a lost cause, we are fighting a lost cause. We are moving into lost territory.

The same is happening here what is already happening in the Banana Republic of America.

The loss of jobs in the U.S. isn't because of technology. It's because of bad gahmen taxes, regulations and policies along with a visceral, contemptuous anti-business climate that no longer makes America competitive with the rest of the world. Therefore, businesses pick up and go to greener pastures elsewhere.

The U.S. came to this stage by the very same way Singapore has arrived at its present stage that seems to be the brunt of many a pang and complaint: by VOTING the WRONG people into office.

The same is happening here what is already happening in the Banana Republic of America.

The only difference being is that the "Banana Republic of America" have a growing majority of people willing to change that course—and it will change.

Singapore in no way can be compared to the US. The US has tremendous huge landmass and shorelines. It could support primary productions, agriculture, husbandries, aqua and marine productions. Such industries will provide employments and incomes for many generations to come. Singapore has no such luxuries and Singaporeans will be dead the moment SIN turns bananas.

The people of the 'Banana Republic of America' did voted for change during the last election, because Obama stands for change, on his election platform, which resulted in good support for him to bring in changes.

But, as we have seen, it is still back to the same malaise all over again. Financially, socially and economically it is still dictated by a particular group of very influential people. Obama can do little.

So, really how much can the people of the 'Banana Republic of America' change the system. Republican or Democratic, it looks like it will be more of the same whoever leads the country.

Of course this is what the vast majority of the uninformed, duped booboisie thought they were getting when in reality the "change" that was "promised" really ended up being a T-shirt slogan that read: "I voted for change and all I got was this lousy Banana Republic".

But, as we have seen, it is still back to the same malaise all over again. Financially, socially and economically it is still dictated by a particular group of very influential people...

The question here would be: "How's that 'hopey/changey' thing workin' out for ya?" It's the same "malaise" because the "hope and change" Obuma "promised" wasn't really "hope" and "change"; it was really a bunch of lies—something everyone can relate with.

So, really how much can the people of the 'Banana Republic of America' change the system. Republican or Democratic, it looks like it will be more of the same whoever leads the country.

This is obviously not a very informed opinion of what's really going on there, but you're free to own it.
